Press Release: Art On The Line 2016

March 10, 2016

The first event this year is the much-anticipated Art on the Line art exhibition and auction. This event is the largest international art exhibit and sale in the city featuring exclusively women artists. Professional, amateur, and student artists from around the world have contributed to the 280-piece collection, which will be on show on March 10th at The Space in Sheung Wan with the generous support of Santa Fe Relocation Services.

Last year’s launch attracted an estimated 500+ patrons and artists, and raised HK$230,000 for the AWA Charity Fund to fund educational scholarships to Lingnan University, the VTC and 24 underserved charities.

Art on the Line’s organizers, Regine Pocsatko and Lisa Strunin are thrilled to announce some of the highlights of the featured artists lineup for this year’s event:

The AWA are incredibly honored to have award-winning, international artist Mila Furstova donate to the Art on the Line this year. Her beautiful wing etching of wings appears on the album cover for Coldplay’s Ghost Stories (2014) and her work “has become part of important private and public collections, including that of Queen Elizabeth II and the V&A Museum in London and has featured in numerous publications.”

An exciting addition to this year’s event is the international street art sensation, Bao Ho, who will be creating her piece for auction live at The Space on the evening of the event as guests enter. After a whirlwind year creating for events like Clockenflap and collaborations with Microsoft and Vans, Bao is generously donating her artwork and time to the Art on the Line event to support AWA’s charitable outreach in the community.

Returning this year is 2015 Magnum Foundation Human Rights Fellow Ms. Xyza Cruz Bacani who is donating a series of framed photographs following the overwhelming response last year for her work.

For one night only from 6 pm to 10 pm, over 280 artworks will be on display, hanging “on the line” ready for collectors and supporters to purchase. The evening will also include a silent auction, a live art performance by street artist Bao Ho, and wine.
