Vietnamese Mahjong for Experienced Players: Introductory Workshop (2 spots remaining)
What Happens When Mahjong Gets Eight Jokers? Come Find Out and shake up your Mahjong game with a whole new way to play. This lively, one session workshop is designed for players who already know Hong Kong or Taiwanese style and are ready to explore the vibrant, fast moving world of Vietnamese Mahjong.
Vietnamese style introduces eight unique jokers, each with its own special purpose. These tiles transform the pace of the game, open up unexpected strategies, and create a dynamic experience that feels fresh even for seasoned players. If you enjoy the challenge of adapting your skills to a new rhythm, you will love this version.
Our instructor, Theresa Derrik, has played HK, TW, and VN styles for many years. She brings deep experience and a genuine passion for the cultural richness and spirited energy that Vietnamese Mahjong offers.
Mahjong has always been a blend of skill, strategy, and friendly connections. Vietnamese style enhances all of these qualities with a bold and engaging twist.
We look forward to welcoming you at the AWA Member Space on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
Depending on interest, we also plan to offer Vietnamese style as an option during our Mahjong Monday afternoons.
To maintain an effective learning environment, this workshop is limited to players with substantial prior experience (generally gained through at least one year of regular play). Participants who are new to the game or have only recently completed an introductory courses will not be eligible to join.
The AWA and the instructor reserve the right to assess whether a participant’s experience level is suitable for this workshop.
