Glow and Sew With Kat! Part 1: Pretty Pouches for Beginner and Intermediate - 1 Spot Left

Sewing is a skill that can activate and illuminate your creativity in multiple ways.

Join Kat for one, or all three beginner to intermediate sewing classes in 2026.

Whether you are new to machine sewing, or ready to take your skills as sewist to the next level - there is much inspiration available to all participants in this course.  

Kat McLeod has been sewing since she was 10 and has had many years experience designing costumes, creating her own children’s brand of clothing, and now working on community sewing projects in Bali.  Join her in 2026 as she takes you through pretty pouch construction, quilting basics, and decorative doll making.

Glow and Sew With Kat - Part 1

Join Kat for Part 1 in her Glow and Sew Series!

Everyone loves a good pouch.  In three classes Kat will walk everyone through several steps that will give you at least one practice pouch and a max of three lined linen pouches with gorgeous golden zips. Also - assistance for one additional sewing project of choice.

Here are just a few of the skills we will build together:

• Creating your own pattern
• Using interfacing comfortably
• Sewing a lined project
• Inserting a zipper
• Using both pins and wonder clips
• Quilting together multiple layers 
• Being comfortable with threading and maintaining your machine (beginner level)
• Cutting fabric with both scissors and a rotary cutter (beginner/intermediate)
• Hand stitching (optional)
• Feeding thick layers through the machine with tweezers and/or awl
• Adjusting a simple pouch design
• Pressing projects (beginner)

All fabric, zips, interfacing, 20 wonder clips (in handy box) plus one manual machine threader included in workshop fee.

Participants will need to bring along:

• Sewing machine
• Extra bobbins and machine needles
• Threads
• Machine tool kit (included with all machines)
• Zipper foot
• Extension cord
• Three pairs of scissors - fabric scissors, paper scissors, and small scissors for snipping threads
• Pins
