A Walk About the Monasteries of Tsuen Wan
Join us for an active walk around northern Tsuen Wan to view some of the large and colorful monasteries in the area.
Tsuen Wan is interesting because it's a district where tradition and modernity intertwine - towering new residential buildings and commercial towers coexist among the decades old religious structures still adored by believers and sightseers.
During our route we'll visit Yuen Yuen Institute, Western Monastery, and Chuk Lam Sim Monastery for self-guided exploration. Each one has a very different atmosphere and religious focus. We will meet at Hong Kong Station and train to Tsuen Wan. From there we will take the minibus to the Chuk Lam Sim Monastery. After that we will share a taxi or Uber to the Yuen Yuen Institute and the Western Monastery.
Finally we will take a minibus back to the station to end the day or stay in the area and do a shared expense lunch. A handout with information will be sent to you before the tour.
There is a lot of walking but you may bring children if you think it is appropriate. The cost is the same.
