About the Charity
Redress is a pioneering Hong Kong environmental charity with a mission to educate and empower the fashion industry and consumers to reduce clothings' negative environmental impact by contributing to the circular economy in Hong Kong and reducing textile waste going to landfill. Through their Clothing Takeback Programme, Redress collects unwanted clothing and then sorts it together with volunteers in order to redistribute it for re-sale, re-use by those in need in our community, or recycling.
As a Volunteer your role will be to:
1. Help to unbox secondhand clothing donations into the sorting area.
2. Help to carefully sort secondhand clothing donations into categories based on the item's type and condition.
3. Help to weigh boxes of sorted clothing and move them to the ‘OUT’ area.
4. Help to tidy-up the sorting area at the end of the session.
Additional Info:
1. The duration of each session is 3 hours (including 15 mins briefing; 15 mins short break and review; 5 mins reflection)
2. Redress will provide safety and hygiene equipment (include gloves, masks, hand sanitizers, first aid kit, etc)
3. Please dress casually with closed-toe shoes and bring your own drinking water.
Redress staff may take photos to record the activity for the purpose of sharing and promoting the charity's work. Please inform a staff member on-site if you are uncomfortable with being photographed.
