Reading for the Blind

The Hong Kong Society for the Blind (HKSB) maintains an extensive audio library of audio tapes on a wide range of subjects relating to current affairs, literature, and educational materials. AWA volunteers contribute to the audio library by providing twice monthly recordings of news clippings from the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

Volunteers clip articles daily from the SCMP for a two-week period (~two articles per day) on topics of potential interest to the HKSB listeners. The articles are then read out loud at the HKSB recording studio in Kowloon at the end of this two-week period.

No skills are required, however, volunteers with clear voices are ideal.

Step 1: Express an interest in this volunteering opportunity by clicking on the red 'register' button above - you will be sent an approval email the coordinator.

Step 2: Register for a specific 2 week period by clicking on 1st OR 15th day of each month on the event calendar above. By registering on the 1st of a particular month, you are volunteering to collect news stories for the period of 1st-14th of that month. By registering on the 15th of a particular month, you are volunteering to collect news stories for the period of 15th - end of the month.  You will be contacted to record your articles at the end of this two-week period.
