Golf Society (Members Only)
Are you a beginner, social, returning or advanced golfer? The AWA Golf Society (AWAGS) of Hong Kong is just the group you need to join. Managed by a very enthusiastic Captain’s Committee, we offer all AWA members who are interested in golf a wide variety of golf activities to experience and several opportunities to get out on the fairways and play.
AWAGS is also officially registered with the Hong Kong Golf Association (HKGA), which means that we are able to help members’ access handicap cards and other HKGA benefits. If golf is your game, and you want to get involved, here are details about the activities we offer to registered members of AWAGS:
Golf Tournaments:
These competitions are a highlight amongst AWAGS members. We play regularly at Kau Sai Chau (public golf course near Sai Kung), and Deep Water Bay (The Hong Kong Golf Club). These events are a great opportunity for those players who don’t have handicap cards (yet) to get on the course and play. They are also well supported by our working members who have limited opportunities to play.
Social Golf at Clear Water Bay Academy Course:
We play social rounds of golf at The Clear Water Bay Academy Par Three course. No handicap required.
Other golf events and activities:
We organize occasional trips to Macau and China. We try to make a couple of trips a year.
We also host social events such as driving range sessions with lunch afterwards, and our very popular end of the year, Christmas Golf Lunch.
Details of all golf activities, and sign up details are advertised to registered members of AWAGS ahead of each event.

Golf Clinics:
Throughout the year golf pro Mareli Joubert conducts specific golf clinics for AWAGS members.
Beginner’s Course:
Several times a year AWAGS offers Beginner’s courses. These are sessions for new and returning golfers to learn/refresh basic skills and techniques. The course is six 3 hour sessions (usually 09.00 - 12.00), and held at the Clear Water Bay Country club. This fun and relaxed course includes all the basic skills, golf rules and etiquette necessary to play and enjoy golf. Teaching will include a mixture of lessons in the simulator, on the outside practice areas and on the academy course.
Improver Clinics:
The Improver Clinics are also held several times a year, also at the Clear Water Bay Country Club. Each individual clinic cover specific elements of golf including, for example: Full Swing, Chipping and Putting and Pitching. These clinics are also 3 hours long, and include a mix of simulator, outside practice and on-course learning.

WhatsApp Groups:
We have WhatsApp Groups which players can join. These are a quick way to publicize our golf events and allow members to organize their own games.
