Recycled Rolled Paper Vase Workshop – Roll, Repurpose & Bloom!
Join us for our Recycled Rolled Magazine Vase Workshop and discover how simple materials like magazines, cardboard, paint, and dried flours can be reimagined into an elegant textured wall piece.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll create a one-of-a-kind raised vase artwork using rolled magazine pages and recycled card as your foundation. Inspired by rustic botanical wall décor, we’ll explore how tightly rolled paper can form sculptural shapes and fluted textures—bringing depth and structure to your design while keeping sustainability at the heart of the process.
You’ll learn how to thoughtfully arrange and secure rolled paper to build both a ribbed background and a dimensional vase form. We’ll experiment with composition techniques, vertical balance, spacing, and layering as we add dried flours and natural elements to create delicate stems and organic movement above the vase.
Participants are encouraged to bring extra magazines, lightweight cardboard, or small dried natural elements from home. These personal touches can make your finished piece even more unique. We’ll also have shared materials available for everyone to use.
As your artwork comes together, we’ll guide you through adhering, reinforcing, and finishing techniques so your piece is sturdy and ready to hang. You can leave it natural for a soft, neutral look—or apply a unified paint wash for a modern, sculptural finish that highlights texture and depth.
What You’ll Learn:
- How to roll and shape magazine pages for structure and dimension
- Techniques for constructing a raised vase using recycled paper
- Composition strategies for arranging vertical botanical elements
- Ways to create contrast through texture, height, and negative space
- Methods for securely adhering mixed materials to a flat surface
- Finishing techniques including painting, sealing, and display options
Leave with a beautifully textured, sustainable vase artwork and a fresh perspective on the creative possibilities hiding in recycled materials. No prior art experience needed—just bring your imagination and a willingness to roll, shape, and create!
