Found Object Collage Workshop – Reimagine, Repurpose & Create!
Join us for our Misplaced Toys & Repurposed Materials Collage Class and discover how everyday objects can be transformed into bold, expressive artwork.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll create a one-of-a-kind mixed media collage using misplaced toys, small figurines, broken bits, and unexpected materials. Inspired by assemblage art, we’ll explore how discarded or overlooked objects can come together to tell a story, form a shape, or create a striking visual composition—like a heart made entirely of tiny toys.
You’ll learn how to thoughtfully arrange, layer, and secure three-dimensional objects onto a base surface, balancing color, texture, and negative space. We’ll experiment with composition techniques, monochromatic backgrounds, painted finishes, and creative layouts that help your found objects truly stand out.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own small toys, trinkets, game pieces, charms, or interesting odds and ends from home. These personal items make your piece even more meaningful. We’ll also have a shared collection of repurposed materials available for everyone to use.
As your collage comes together, we’ll guide you through securing, sealing, and finishing techniques so your artwork is ready to hang and display. You can leave your piece colorful and playful—or unify it with a single paint wash for a more sculptural, contemporary look.

- Methods for safely adhering and securing mixed materials
- Finishing techniques including painting, sealing, and display options
