Foon Ying Class
Foon Ying means “welcome” in Cantonese and the whole idea of these sessions is to "welcome" you to embrace new friendships and embark on new adventures together. Whether you are new to Hong Kong, the AWA, or are just looking to connect or re-connect, this is a great way to meet a smaller group of women and learn about our dynamic city.
We welcome all AWA members and their friends, both brand new “Hong Kongers” as well as those of us who have been here for a while and watched our first batch of friends head home or off to new pastures, to share experiences about life in Hong Kong and exchange tips and wrinkles that remind us that we're not alone. We'll have a chance to see Hong Kong through each other's eyes as we share funny stories and cultural advice and then we'll discover HK anew as we go on some mini explorations together. Our class leader will design outings based on the group dynamics, which could be anything from a practical guide to riding trams to visiting a famous landmark or enjoying a local lunch.
We'll kick off our first session at our cozy AWA Member Space where we'll each have a chance to introduce ourselves and our facilitator will help each person discover some connections and commonalities within the group. You'll also have a chance to hear or share more about what AWA does and link that to your personal passions or interests. Your commitment to this class is to attend all three sessions over a three-week period and be willing to explore new places and meet some lovely people (and possibly lifelong friends)!
